Antrim Escape Walkthrough: Alternate Exit

It is very cool of Game Hive to release an update of Antrim Escape.
Why? The version 2.0 update added an alternate exit!!
I really enjoyed playing through this room escape game with such sophisticated graphics. Now I get to relive it with an alternate exit! And this time around, the puzzles are much harder. Game Hive really needs to pay back the sleep hours they took away from me.

Important: you need to RESET the game before starting.
Read my original walkthrough if you haven't solved the first exit.

Here's the walkthrough for the alternate exiting. Again, from my last post, these are the walls:
North - Wall with clock and large desk.
West - Wall with glass door to the balcony
South - Wall with bookshelves
East - Wall with a small table and a wooden door
  1. Tap on the cat and its eyes will move left and right ...and up!!
Keep tapping its eyes until it moves up and this completes the sequence of Lefts and Rights. Take a note of it.

  2. Now in the NORTH wall with the grandfather clock, tap on the pendulum!! Voila~ this brings up another view with the pendulum actually swinging left and right as you tilt the iPhone left and right. You can swing it LIGHTLY or HEAVILY (you will hear a different sound).

  3. Use the cat eyes sequence from step 1 and swing it HEAVILY to enter each Lefts and Rights in the sequence.
Here's the tricky part: you have to do it in the opposites.
ie. cat eye Left becomes a RIGHT swing of pendulum. and vice versa.

I believe the reason is because the cat saw the castle owner did this to the pendulum, but the cat is looking from the opposite wall. Hence, cat's eyes moving to the Left in the player's point of view is actually pendulum's Right point of view looking at North wall.

After entering the pendulum's swing sequence correctly (remember opposite to cat's eyes sequence), you will hear a clock sound. Now, remember the cat looked UP as its final sequence? Go to the clock view with the Bird, and it will give you a key.

  4. This key unlocks the 'fake door' in the WEST wall. but the door has 2 locks!!!!

  5. Opens the compass from the right cabinet in NORTH wall (read my original walkthrough for how to open compass) to obtain the other key for the 'fake door'.

  6. Now, with the fake door opened, you thought you'd have escape?? Not so easy. There is another door!!, Now tap on the top right side of that door to bring you to a close up view.

There will be some english words such as 'Sheesh...'
Use the Candle and put it there to light up the rest of the words in shadow.

  7. Here's the hard part: Rotate your iPhone to look at the words UPSIDE DOWN. and they become numbers.
    Gotta get creative here: 'I' is 1, 'Z' is 2, 'E' is 3, 'h' is 4, 'S' is 5

The message is different each time you start up a new game (just like the cat eyes sequence). Take note of this code and the patterns on this metal door! You can't always come back for the numbers. Some puzzles trigger the candle to burn off. Gotta do it before that happens.

  8. Now if you head up to the Music Box in the SOUTH wall, you will see the music box having the same pattern as the metal door. This is the hint to playing the tunes on the music box.

    On the music box:
leftmost bar is 1, then 2, then 3, then 4 and rightmost is 5.
Play the tune (the sequence of numbers upside down you found earlier) and tap music box.
Then you will hear a sliding door sound.

  9. For the middle lower drawer in the SOUTH wall, you have to keep on tapping it a few times to get it open. You will see a metal plate with sockets if you have played the new tunes to the music box. It is similar to the wooden box behind the painting on the wall. You will need to insert the coins and yellow/white gems into it. Please see to my last post if you need help with finding the coins and gems as well as the pattern to insert the coins.

  10. Congrats. Escape through the tunnel and meet a secret character!

Props to Game Hive for this free update :)

  2. For some reason the coins don't work in my game... I matched the books with the gems for the order and then placed the coins but was told I was wrong. Any ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  3. ThenewUltima572,

Hmm.. perhaps reset the game (required after you updated to version 2.0) and give it another try for the coins part.

Also, have you checked out my original walkthrough about how to arrange the coins?

    http://mikediddo.blogspot.com/2010/01/antrim-escape-walkthrough_29.html

    - the years in each coin correspond to one of the books in the SOUTH WALL on the top middle bookshelf.
    - once you match the year to the book, then use the book's color to match the position of the marbles in the SOUTH WALL small table.

  4. my candle already is already melted :( i need to restart the game ... it's the only way right? hmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  5. The cat don't move it's eyes when I tapped on it

    ReplyDelete
  6. You need to take note of the colour of the books with the year of the coin. The combination is the gems on the little table below where you unscrew the painting from xx

    ReplyDelete
  7. completed the whole thing but it says the door in the tunnel is locked!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Same problem. Did everything. Then said door unlocked. Went to door and was locked. Went to bricks. Somehow got back the 5 coins. Did everything but missing the gems. Stuck now

    ReplyDelete
  12. I just downloaded this yesterday and I dont think I have the alternate ending. What should I do to get it? Or maybe I cant

    ReplyDelete
  13. I put the gems into the sword and now I can't get them out to use to unlock the place in the middle cabinet. Help! Please.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well done, Mike--absolutely amazing! Did both exits in their entirety in less than an hour with your help. My sleep patterns thank you. :) Toughest part for me? The map. Hint: start in the upper left corner of the map, count down along the left for the first number, then move right for the second. Thanks for the solid help.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I dont know where to find the coins!!!!!! where are the gems and coins... this game is so confusing

    ReplyDelete
  16. me too it says the tunnel is unlocked but when i get to the door it says its locked, did i miss a key?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I had to swap the blue and purple colour in the coin-part. The rest was ok...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Where is the fake door???? :(

    ReplyDelete
  19. My code for the music box is not working is says " she sees his zee" and I typed in 332 514 5335 345 but it didn't work help me

    ReplyDelete
  20. My candle is burnt out. How do I see the words on the metal door? If I restart the game, won't I have to burn out the candle to get the coin again?

    ReplyDelete
  21. @ Jasjot

No, the candle will burn out after reading the words, then put it on the stand and grab the coin.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mike ur a bloody genius to have worked that helped so much :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. you only need to use the last 7 numbers of the code!

    ReplyDelete
  24. This was a lot of fun even following you directions which I am greatful for. Thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I finished it in less than an hour thanks to you!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't get the key from the grandfather clock to work in the fake door. The key from the compass works, but now I'm stuck. Help!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Same problem as others previously posted... It says the passage opens, takes the coins and gems and the door is closed and "locked" when I get to it. I can't look at or access any of the items on the book shelf wall anymore either. The cat, wagon and shelves are all unresponsive. And as someone previously stated, i look at the bricks and got the coins back, no gems. Glitch?

    ReplyDelete
  28. What do you mean when you say "patterns"? My code upside down is 2 51 332 514, and it won't work on the music box! PLEASE HELP I THINK I'M DYING FROM LACK OF SLEEP FROM THIS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Um... Well I read that some people are having trouble with the musicbox combination. I was too. I put in the correct code and... Well nothing. Then I realized I had to push the button. So maybe that is your problem too? I hope this helped.

  31. Hi Guys,
If you have not completed the ORIGINAL walkthrough and skipped to this ALTERNATE EXIT walkthrough, you would've missed a lot of things that I did not mention in this guide.

For those of you that are still having trouble, I will try to make a video walkthrough soon. Please stay tune.

    Thank you all

    ReplyDelete
  32. I got stuck after putting the coins and gems in. I then exited out using the "Save & Exit" button and went back into the game. Once I did that I was able to open the middle cabinet again and clicked on where the sliding panel was, got the alternate ending then.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I got all the keys but the door still won't open , also when I reset the game fro
the start it still had in the corner completed ??

    ReplyDelete
  34. great game though admittedly I needed help. I mean how is a normal user going to know to tap on the map multiple times to get the gem? After teh 3rd or 4th try I would have given up. Or the upside down shE Zee converted into numbers? Seriously? Hopefully the sequel's clues won't be as impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cheers mike. I was stuck on the scroll code, with your help i then completed the rest of the game within mins. Thanx again for your help

    ReplyDelete
  36. My code for the music box wont work and I can get the bricks on the wall to move or break or whatever they're supposed to do.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ive already done this once the original exit- trying the alternate- i can get the code right on the pendelum and get the clock to sound off but when i go for the key, the darn bird has nothing for me. HELP!

  38. ( Coin Part For Alternate Exit )
I'd Completed The First Original Exit Already
Now I'm Trying For The Alternate One
    Got Everything
Just Stuck At The Coin Part
I'd Placed All Coins Accordingly To The Books
    But It Kept On Saying
    It's Wrong! T.T

    ReplyDelete
  39. my sink doesnt have a handle!!! how i can put the water again? thnx in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Brillant game !!

Tip when doing the alternate exit do not pick up the candle till very last that wAy it won't burn out on you , also when you get the code from the steel door that you type into the music box you type it in backwards (well that's how it was in my game may be different in yours)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just a tip-when looking for the gem in the map, instead of doing wierd counting, just rotate your ipod so that the narrower end is on the bottom and the longer end is on the left (where the tick marks are...), so that you can treat it as a regular coordinate graph.

    ReplyDelete
  42. where's the pendent?

    pls help

    ReplyDelete
  43. Pendant is on top of clock

    ReplyDelete
  44. I just completed the other exit! YaY!! go me. it's my birthday! when is the next puzzle?! thanks Mike for the tips!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Whoever mentioned hitting "save & exit" if the secret door didn't work is amazing. Saved me the trouble of starting over. It doesn't work right away, but I tapped the door and then checked under the cabinet and the new ending just randomly started

    ReplyDelete
  46. This was great although I don't think I could have done it without the walk through. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  47. help...how to soak the towel?? been doing it but it seems no to be wet at all..

  48. Place the silver ball that u found on the table below the painting. Thn clog the sink and turn on the tap.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @ Mike Diddo

"This key unlocks the 'fake door' in the WEST wall".

I believe it should be the EAST wall, right? ;) Other than that, great walkthrough!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I have a hard time doing the cat sequence with the clock. I did the opposite. But it didn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Mike!! Does anyone know when we should anticipated for the next sequel?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I need help please :(
I have trying to do the pendulum part. I got the correct sequence and heard the "dong" sound. However when I go up to look for the key, there was nothing there! What happened

    ReplyDelete
  53. Where's the "save and exit"?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thank you so much for your help! Litterally couldn't have done it without you! This is the best escape game I have found on the iPhone so far- really enjoyed it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Guess I'm on v2.4 and I beat it twice. How do you get to the extra ending?? Thanks Ron.

    ReplyDelete
  56. where is the secret door exactly?

    ReplyDelete
  57. it's the door next to the painting not a secret door it is a door but needs 2 keys to open, once inside there is a metal door.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hello,
I'm stuck on the sword. I have the gems and have the sword unlocked in the case, but for some reason I can't insert the gems into the sword. Every time I try it just says "a beautiful yellow/white gem" and they won't go into the sword. Any idea why this could be?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  61. awesome game!! really enjoyed it, thanks so much for the hints!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Finished the original escape, tried the alternate. Opened the fake door but I forgot and put the coins in the wall instead of the drawer panel and couldn't get them out so I did a reset. Now the hammer handle is missing, LOL. So very stuck even after several resets. The stick just isn't to be found at the car, nor anywhere else. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  63. The stick is found at the book shelf under the cat so zoom in...

    ReplyDelete
  64. ok I have entered the code into the music box and it made the sliding door sound... now I am at the place where I enter the gems and coins and i have tried the combinations of books in oreder and the way the colors are on the table and nothing is working.. please help!! :[

  65. I need help I started the game but there's no penchant. How do I find the white gem???

    ReplyDelete
  66. ^same person as above: I tried to use the diary entry of October 28. I thought maybe it would work but it didn't and I don't have the grandmas penchant. Help please. I reset the game but still no penchant. Help please. I already deleted and redownloaded the game too. I'm stuck......

    ReplyDelete
  67. The penchant is on the very top of the clock. Make the clock dong a few times first by tipping the iPod when looking at the pendulum.

    ReplyDelete
  68. please advise of how could Ethel or emma (the grandmother)
    exit

    ReplyDelete
  69. Need help please in getting to the alternate exit. Completed 1st escape, reset game and it still won't let me go to the alternate exit. The name is in red with no check mark and it won't let me click on it? Thanks for the awesome walkthrough!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Great game and thanks for the walkthrough. Wouldn't have done it without the help! Can't wait for the sequel.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Did the game without the walkthrough... took hours but great satisfaction.
Someone said that they hope the sequel has less impossible clues; I hope the opposite. this game is amazing. I can see a sequel that is bigger to go further.
Full rotation like Return to Mysterious Island?
    Multiple "rooms" to be in?
    I want!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. im done in walkthrough and altenate exit. im on the third one.. Hey anyone who have clues for this 3rd sequel? clues i'd found was only on the book inside the drawer, but don't know how to get further. please answer me. thanks

    ReplyDelete
  77. omg thnx u thnx u i finally got it!! u r the bestt thnx u!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. For those of you trying the code from the door, you have to do it in the same order as it is. I'm pretty sure a lot of you are doing it backwards.
Example: hIS ZEE IS Z would be 415 233 15 2, not the other way, even though when you turn it upside-down it appears to be the opposite. That help anyone? :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. I can't get to the alternate exit I don't know how and I am dying to play the alternate exit please help!

    ReplyDelete
  80. :O I cant wait until the sequel!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hi I can't seem to get the key from the bird in the grandfather clock on Ethel exit.
I have the right sequence. Do I need to change the time as in Emma exit ? Any help would be greatfully excepted. Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  85. hi hi... alot of ppl asked, but no one answered. how do i get the second exit to work. i am doing the cat and pendelum thing.. and it makes the gong.. but nothing.. should i cahnge the V to ethel? how do i do it?? thanks mike

  88. Forgot to say...two times for music yields a key and door. Odd...

    ReplyDelete
  89. There is a keyhole for the door with the strange words. Any ideas???

    ReplyDelete
  90. I put the gems into the sword but then found the parts for alt ending so is there any way of getting them back out the sword to complete it.So annoyed if not I didn't realise I'd need them elsewhere. Only played again to get alt ending now am this far don't want to restart!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I've tapped it several times but I can't see any metal socket in step 9? Help!! xx

    ReplyDelete
  92. Help Ive completed every step and it says the secret gates are opened, but when I went there it's locked!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. @ Firdaus
You don't go to the metal door. You have to click on the middle drawer of the South Wall and put your coins and gems into the hole.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Heyy mike, loads of thanks to you for your great help! (: without your walkthrough, I won't be able to complete this game! ^^

    ReplyDelete
  95. I tried doing the alternate ending but when i reset the game there is no check on the alt ending and i cant click on it!! Im getting fraustrated..i want to play alt ending! Help!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. @anonymous:
you don't have to click the alt ending check.
Just play again the game, but this time do the steps needed to open the 2 locks' door.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thanks alot for the walkthough, but I'm having trouble opening the metal door, I know the candle is need in the last part, so I didnt use the candle to read for the compass code (NEWS) on the mirror, but after the compass is opened for the key, my candle show it's burned out :(
    What should I do?

    ReplyDelete
  98. i've tried the music thing twice through now and it is SO infuriating. it just doesnt work, in ANY way that I try it. does it matter with capital letters.... as i have a "is" rather than an "IS"

    ReplyDelete
  99. I opened the pendant but I didn't get the gem off the front. How do I close it?! I can't figure this out!

    ReplyDelete
  100. For the previous poster - you don't take the gem from the pendant, you get both gems elsewhere.

For those having trouble with the music box code - I was having the same problem until I realized I still had the candle selected. Making sure no items were 'in use' solved the issue for me.

  102. Having problem in obtaining 2nd key from the bird.
I've tried the sequence in opposite direction for many times as well as the normal directions that the cat gave me and a gong sound produced but when u go to the bird there it doesn't give me the key :(

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hey I tried to put the coins in the hidden socket with the gems for the alternative exit but it kept saying that i have to check the sequence from the books which i already did please help

    ReplyDelete
  104. I can't get the middle drawer in the desk to open because I used the gold key in the fake door. . . how do I fix this?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I managed to get past it. . . Thanks anyway (^_^)

    2. The door just won't open now. . . it just says it is locked still and I can't access anything else. . .

      Delete
  105. For the people complaining that the metal door is still locked, the metal door is NOT the exit. Last time I checked, doors weren't tunnels. Instead, click the coin/gem case thingy and you will see a hatch open. Climb through that.
